This is an intensive weekend adult leader training that will be offered in Eastern and Western NC. It is modeled after the Equip64 Training Course at Camp Aiken. The specific agenda and information will be released soon.
For adults the following are 3 required courses:
Health and Safety – Universal concepts of “common sense” and policies set out in the Trail Life H&S manual. These are meant to assure safety while not limiting fun. The attitude is more about what a Trail Life Troop can do, as opposed to what it can’t do.
Keeping Christ In It – Trail Life exists as a response to deviation from God’s plan. Let’s learn how not to make similar mistakes again. A discussion of implementing the Trail Life culture.
Troop Track & Technology – So-far, Trail Life has distinguished itself with modern technology. Witness its Internet introduction, its Trooptrack system, its chat/blog discussion boards and its on-line store. Of great notice is its employment of the “GoTo” virtual meeting format. Each Troop/Area has the option of taking advantage of these technologies (or not). Such technology may very well be the answer to problems associated with large Areas, we will explore some options.
Adults will also choose 4 elective course from the following:
The Trailbadge Program – Administering the many Trailbadges, both required and elective. Recruiting and maintaining a Trailbadge advisor staff.
It’s a Boy-led program / Patrol Method – Taking The Comedy Out Of The Concept – Installing policies and practices that keep the adult leaders from having to macro-manage the Troop program.
Weekly Meeting Programming – Methods and resources to design the weekly meeting topics.
Having Fun With No Money And No Electricity – Many Troops will be serving demographics that simply are not affluent. There are ways and means to deliver a quality program and equip the Troop without a huge budget.
Troop budgeting and Fundraising – Best practices of keeping ahead of financial problems and on top of Troop-required deadlines and requirements. Common sense, Ethics, and the Church may place limits on the practices and methods of fund raising. This session will discuss those problems and ways to circumvent issues.
Participating In Area Activities – What’s In It For Me? The importance of the Area Program and how your Troop can benefit.
Delivering The Program – Much like a school, the Troop must deliver a program that has deadlines and goals that must be met for each boy. This can be a headache without proper planning and communication.
Adult Leader Morale – The Trail Life program is geared towards the boys…. But the parents and adult leaders must also benefit. This session will discuss methods to maintain adult stimulation and progress.
